Before moving to the beautiful green hills and mountains of West Virginia, Deerfield Beach, Florida and the Deerfield Beach International Fishing Pier was where I cut my photography teeth. Located only about five miles from my old house in Boca Raton, Florida, this was my go-to spot in my first five or six years of photography. I have taken more images at this location than any other - thousands and thousands of images! This is where I honed my skills as a photographer - initially focusing on really long exposures to what I believe became my signature style…short-long exposures (1/4 second to 2 seconds) that capture the motion and the texture of the incoming and outgoing surf. Some of my best seascape images were taken at this beautiful location - from the curvy surf line and high-rise condominiums to the north of the pier, down to the dozens of piles of breaker rocks to the south, and of course, the old pier itself - this was a wonderful location to learn all aspects, techniques, and challenges of seascape photography.
Below is a collection of my best images taken at Deerfield Beach. Maybe someday I will be brave enough to show my photos from this location as I first started on my seascape photography journey. Until then, I hope you enjoy this collection of images.
